Welcome to the Restless Natives. I’m thrilled that you stopped by.

Here on the reservation, you will find a great deal of wit, wisdom, and encouragement in the stories of a mother with 4 braves (ages 22, 18, 13, and 5) and one stalwart, faithful, and very wise chief.

Mischief and misdemeanors abound. So do love and grace. Pull up a chair. Listen in.

My mission? Encouraging the world, one laugh at a time. Starting with you.

Big and Little, Short and Tall

Springtime has finally come to our neck of the woods.  For weeks, I've been buttoning down my spring fever, holding it in check, afraid to surrender to it for fear that Old Man Winter would come roaring back with one final blow.  And just as I get my capris out!

Today, I cannot deny that it's here.  The grass is green; the daffodils, they are abloomin'; and the wind is warm.

This afternoon, Big went out to do some cleaning in his car with Little hot on his heels, happy, happy because they both had wheels.  While Big worked, Little played, driving around the slab.

When I posted something about this in my status on Facebook, a friend suggested that I get a picture.  Of course!

So here they are.  (Big, it should be noted, is the one that suggested Little's name when I was percolating him.  They love each other devotedly, so it's entirely fitting that they spend some time, man-to-man, with their cars.)

More hilarity from the papoose

...who nailed the Quote of the Day when he said this:  "I'm giving myself a spanking!"

He was rather worried because he'd done something he thought he just might get spanked for and decided, I guess, to take matters into his own hands.

A couple of other times when he was troubled thus, he had this request:  "Spank me with my red bip!"

Now, when you know that "bip" in his lexicon means "slipper," you'll be able to appreciate the brilliance in his logic.

He's sharp as a tack, that one is.
