This post is brought to you today by the letter "W."
"W," you see, stands for worship. By searching for the gifts of God in the everyday, we offer the sacrifice of praise. In counting our blessings, we worship and acknowledge from whence they came, and there - there - joy is found.
Last week, on Thursday and Friday, the middles had fall break. For two glorious days, we got to sleep in. Thursday morning found me breaking with our normal Saturday tradition by making fresh, warm waffles, which were enthusiastically wolfed down by hungry boys in their PJs. Knowing that they love these homemade confections makes me happy. It gives me joy.
Then Little got sick, whereupon he was coddled, fussed over, and prayed about. He recovered within hours and "wequested" his very own waffle for dinner that evening. Which his mama gladly made.
On this Multitude Monday, here are more extravagant graces for which I say, "Thank You."
348. College Kid's willingness to supervise and chauffeur his brothers last weekend when their father and I fled the reservation for points north. He could have thrown a fit, but he didn't.
353. Weekly (often daily) witticisms from our crowd. This time it was Mr. 4T who, after being instructed to ask his brother how he could help in cleaning up their room, said to him, "Could I help you by me walking out the door?" WHAT?? Sigh. Everyone's a comedian around here.
354. No waiting in the doctor's office. An extravagant grace for sure for a very tired mama with a sore throat.
357. Work. It's been a long time since I felt gratitude at seeing green flags in my folder. For once, I felt the joy, and it was wonderful.
360. Waiting in warmth as a boy pumps gas into the BMV (Blue Mommy Van), smiling to myself when he exults at getting it right on the dot and not a penny over. How like his father he is.
These are just a few of my points of joy. What, I wonder, are yours today? Can you see His hand? Do you hear His voice? What worship will you offer Him now?
