Welcome to the Restless Natives. I’m thrilled that you stopped by.

Here on the reservation, you will find a great deal of wit, wisdom, and encouragement in the stories of a mother with 4 braves (ages 22, 18, 13, and 5) and one stalwart, faithful, and very wise chief.

Mischief and misdemeanors abound. So do love and grace. Pull up a chair. Listen in.

My mission? Encouraging the world, one laugh at a time. Starting with you.

And stay tuned for the brand-new website that's in the works even as we speak! I can't wait to unveil it for you.

Hey, you - let go now

Hey, you.  Yes, I'm talking to you.  Right there - you, the one who's got the weight of the world on her shoulders today.

I see you.  I know you because I've been in that place.  I know that weight, that thing that's pressing in, pulling you down - you know, that thing you never saw coming?  The unexpected blow you took that sent you reeling, the one that's keeping you awake at night?  I know that, too.

Maybe you're fretting, agonizing over your past mistakes.  You're reliving old failures, seeing them again in living color and writhing in the agony of regret and "should have's."

It's time to stop that.  Listen:  "Man is so made that he can carry the weight of 24 hours - no more.  Directly (as) he weighs down with the years behind and the days ahead, his back breaks.  I have promised to help you with the burden of today only.  The past I have taken from you and if you choose to gather again that burden and bear it, then, indeed, you mock Me to expect Me to share it." - God Calling

And for today, this 24 hours you have right now?  This very moment, the only one any of us really have?  The Psalmist knew what to do with the burden of the hour, and in his own extremity, he penned these words, "Yet I am always with You.  You hold me by my right hand.  You guide me with Your counsel., and afterward You will take me into glory.

"As for me, it is good to draw near to God.  I have made the sovereign Lord my refuge."

Hey, you.  Did you catch that?  You can let go now.  You are guided.  You are held.  You are loved.  Oh, glory!

Yes, I am here, and yes, I needed to hear this.

I'm sending this link to a close friend in deep marital trouble, who's blaming herself. She'll welcome this spring in the desert. Thank you, dear Rhonda. You were inspired for us today.

Hugs,
Jen

Absolutely beautiful. I needed this today after spending the past 2 days sick and unable to 'really' care for our family the way I like to. Thank you. :) Hopped over from Mrs. Voskamp's.

Every now and then, that ol' devil tries to place an old burden on my spirit - and I have to just tell him to "shove off" in the name of Jesus - because that burden is no longer mine. Wonderful post. We all need to sloth our souls every now and then, getting ride of those scaly barnacles the devil tries to attach to us!!!
